Male vs. Female

Do males and females have different levels of muscular maximal power? Why?

Could it depend on the method of measurement?

Yes, I think it can depend on the method of measurement. But I would also have to say that this very much depends on what type of activity is occuring and what muscles are being used because men and women both have certain advantages and disadvantages depending on the particular issue. For example, women tend to be more flexible than men, while men usually have more strength with regards to biceps. However, this question also concerns the individual. Some women can overcome activities that usually men are "good at." It really depends on what factors are involved, such as: environment, individual physiology and body composition, training, etc.

Power is dependent on the muscle type (Type I, IIA or IIB) and structure (if fibers are in paralel or series). How would this fit into your thinking?

The issue is something too few men and women are speaking intelligently about.

Now i'm very happy I came across this in my search for something relating to this.
